The US is discussing the transfer of uranium enrichment and plutonium reprocessing technologies to Saudi Arabia

The initiative of Donald Trump's administration on the possible transfer of #uranium enrichment and plutonium reprocessing technologies to #Riyadh is being discussed in the #US, writes Bloomberg. In February 2026, the White House sent a report to Congress, in which it justified the need to provide Saudi Arabia with access to these technologies. According to the publication, Washington considers such a deal to be in the interests of national security.

Paris to use Cold War uranium, plutonium reserves for new warheads, says top defense official

France intends to use radioactive materials left over from the dismantling of Cold War warheads to produce new nuclear warheads, Defense Minister Catherine Vautrin said.
"We have preserved fissile materials - uranium and plutonium - obtained from nuclear warheads dismantled after the Cold War. Thanks to this, we have sufficient reserves to produce new nuclear warheads, as announced by President Emmanuel Macron," the top defense official told the Le Dauphine Libere newspaper.
Vautrin added that the expansion of France's nuclear arsenal is already included in the budget. "Thirteen percent of the 57-billion-euro military budget is allocated to nuclear deterrence," she said.

Earlier, Macron announced France's intention to adopt the concept of "advanced deterrence" which involves joint exercises with partner countries, as well as the deployment of elements of France's strategic forces on the territory of other countries on the European continent. The French leader also announced plans to increase the country’s nuclear arsenal and said that Paris no longer intends to disclose the exact number of warheads.

In 2020, Macron said that France's nuclear arsenal had fewer than 300 warheads.

Tehran to launch new centrifuges in response to IAEA anti-Iran resolution, statement reads

The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (#AEOI) will commission a significant number of new centrifuges for uranium enrichment in response to the anti-Iran resolution adopted by the International Atomic Energy Agency (#IAEA) Board of Governors on Thursday, a joint statement by the Iranian Foreign Ministry and the AEOI said.

"#Iran's specialized agencies at various levels have previously warned that taking any confrontational measures and using the [IAEA] Board of Governors to promote illegal, politically motivated statements will face retaliation. <...> In this regard, the AEOI chief ordered to take appropriate measures, including launching a significant number of new advanced centrifuges of different types," the statement posted on the Iranian Foreign Ministry's Telegram channel said. According to it, any further retaliatory measures will be taken only "to protect national interests and further develop the peaceful nuclear industry" in accordance with the country's growing needs "within the framework of its rights and obligations under the Non-Proliferation Treaty."

On November 21, the IAEA Board of Governors adopted a Western resolution criticizing Iran for allegedly insufficient cooperation with the agency. According to the document, the IAEA must prepare a detailed report on Iran's nuclear program by the spring of 2025. The resolution passed with 19 votes in favor, three against and 12 abstentions.

Ban of uranium supplies to the US is fully in legal environment, says Rosatom

The decree of the #Russian government on the ban of #uranium supplies to the #US is a tit-for-tat response to the action of US authorities and is fully within the regulatory environment, the Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom said. "The decree of the Russian Federation government on the ban of Russian uranium supplies to the US, passed in pursuance of the assignment of the President of the Russian Federation, is the expectable tit-for-tat response to actions of the US authorities that approved in this May the law prohibiting imports of Russian uranium and is exclusively in the legal environment," Rosatom said.

The Russian government introduced temporary restrictions of enriched uranium exports to the US on Friday. The exception is made for deliveries under one-off licenses issued by the Russian Federal Service for Technical and Export Control.
