IDF uncovers Hamas plans for invasion of Israel towns in Judea and Samaria
Israel seizes Hamas documents in Gaza Strip revealing details of plans to invade Israeli towns in Judea and Samaria, and along the border, similar to October 7th attacks
Israeli forces operating in the Gaza Strip have uncovered official Hamas documents suggesting the terror organization had undertaken extensive planning for multiple attacks on Israeli towns in Judea and Samaria in the seam line area on the border, Channel 12 News reported on Friday.
This is not the first time Israel’s military has obtained Hamas’ internal communiques regarding possible October 7th-style invasions of Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria.
However, the trove of documents shows extensive planning between Hamas officials and officers for a potential series of invasions of Israeli towns in Judea and Samaria.
The memos recovered show that senior Hamas officials were involved in the planning process.
No details regarding specific targets for possible attacks were named in the memos, the report said.
But in the wake of the October 7th, 2023 invasion, Israel’s security establishment has expressed concern regarding the plans, with the IDF’s Military Intelligence Directorate calling for preparations for attempts by terrorist forces to overrun Jewish towns.
In response, Defense Minister Israel Katz (Likud) has ordered the IDF’s Central Command to prepare operational plans to seize and hold additional refugee camps in Samaria, modeled on previous operations in Tulkarem, Jenin, and Nur Shams, with the aim of not just entering and exiting but occupying and retaining control over those camps.
The IDF has said it is not aware of any terrorist tunnel infrastructure in the seam line area along the frontiers of Judea and Samaria.
An army spokesperson emphasized that the military takes the threat of a possible Hamas mass attack in Judea and Samaria seriously, noting that a major drill was conducted in the area two months ago.
“The IDF is committed to the security of Israel’s citizens. Accordingly, ongoing situational assessments are conducted in light of all threats and developments as part of implementing the lessons of October 7th. The reference scenarios approved by the General Staff and the political echelon have been practiced in several drills, including the two-division exercise held in November.”
