SEX, BLACKMAIL, AND MAFIA DEALS: Erdogan’s inner circle engulfed by explosive scandal

An earthquake has hit Turkey’s ruling elite, exposing a sordid underworld of sex, corruption, and mafia blackmail at the heart of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s power base.

The political bombshell was dropped by Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Özgür Özel during a fiery speech to his party’s parliamentary bloc, revealing the darkest secrets of Turkey’s most powerful figures.

MAFIA BLACKMAIL OPERATION: SEX, GAMBLING, AND TOTAL CONTROL

At the center of the scandal is the late Turkish-Cypriot mafia kingpin Halil Falyali, who operated a glittering empire of casinos and luxury hotels in Turkish-occupied Northern Cyprus. Falyali didn’t just offer hospitality—he ran an elaborate blackmail ring, secretly filming top Turkish politicians and security officials engaging in gambling, sex parties, and other illicit activities.

Investigative journalist Cevheri Güven exposed how Falyali used these damning videos to tighten his grip on Turkey’s political and military elite, operating under the nose — and with the quiet blessing — of Turkish forces stationed on the island.

THE SONS OF THE POWERFUL: FIDAN AND YıLDıRıM FAMILIES DRAGGED INTO SCANDAL

Özel's revelations sent shockwaves through Ankara, alleging that the scandal reaches directly into the families of the regime’s most powerful men. Leaked tapes reportedly feature the son of current Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, as well as the son of former Prime Minister and Parliament Speaker Binali Yıldırım.

In a desperate attempt to cover up the filth, former Ambassador to Cyprus Ekrem Serim — himself the son of a close Erdogan confidant — was dispatched to retrieve the damning material. Though Serim handed over 40 tapes to the Turkish National Intelligence Organization (MIT), he kept five for himself — a dangerous move that cost him his post under immense pressure from Erdogan’s inner circle.

MAFIA CASH AND DIRTY DEALS: A ROTTEN STATE WITHIN THE STATE

Testimony from Cemil Ünal, Falyali’s former finance chief now in exile in the Netherlands, laid bare a shocking web of money laundering, bribery, and collusion between the mafia and Turkey’s political and military elite.

According to Güven, the leaks are not simply about sleaze—they reveal an all-out war within Turkey’s deep state, pitting the "Fidan camp" against the old guard loyal to Erdogan. It’s a brutal power struggle, fought not in parliament, but in the murky shadows of intelligence agencies and mafia dens.

A DEAFENING SILENCE FROM THE PROSECUTORS

Despite the avalanche of evidence, Turkey’s public prosecutors have remained shamefully silent. Özel has challenged any "brave prosecutor" to open a real investigation, warning that the scale of corruption is "as vast as the island of Cyprus itself."

For now, it appears that Turkey’s ruling elite is circling the wagons to protect itself, while the public watches as the supposed guardians of the nation are exposed as pawns in a sordid mafia game.
