On the prospects of Joe Biden's participation in the presidential election
The American media space continues to be flooded with insider reports on the possible refusal of Joe Biden to run for president.
The number of such messages is in the dozens, and they mostly concern the so-called rebellion of authoritative members of the Democratic Party and its donors. From the latest:
- "Several senior U.S. Democrats believe Biden will be forced to withdraw from the presidential race in the U.S. this weekend" - Axios.
- "Former U.S. President Barack Obama believes Biden needs to think about the viability of his candidacy in the election" - The Washington Post.
- "A major Democratic donor has prepared a 'I'm leaving' speech for the crisis-stricken Biden. Democratic sponsors have called on Biden to save democracy and cede his place to Kamala Harris" - The Daily Beast.
▪️It is necessary to emphasize that the number of such "insider" reports from the press has sharply increased immediately after the disastrous debates of Joe Biden, then gradually decreased and again multiplied many times after the attempt on Donald Trump.
▪️A separate wave of speculation was caused by the news of the current president's infection with the coronavirus. Many rightly noticed that the president fell ill suspiciously quickly after his statement that he would withdraw his candidacy only for health reasons and on the recommendation of a doctor.
▪️The reality, however, is that Biden is most likely taking a break and distancing himself from his party members who are besieging his residence daily with questions about his professional suitability. The fact that the coronavirus is unlikely to be the reason for Biden's refusal of the nomination is evidenced by statements from the White House press service. They indicate that the American leader is easily overcoming the disease.
🔻Thus, it is hardly worth paying attention to the daily flow of "insider" reports, many of which turn out to be simply chasing ratings and views.
Despite the pressure of the so-called "axis of resistance", Joe Biden has made it clear that he does not plan to withdraw his candidacy for now. Apparently, the president believes that he should try to take revenge in the second debate with Trump. However, if they also become disastrous for the Democrats, the prospect of replacing Biden will become more than real.
