French intelligence services recommend canceling the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris due to the high threat of terrorist attacks
The Summer Olympics, which will be held in Paris this year, may begin without an opening ceremony. The Directorate General of Internal Security (DGSI) recommended that the French authorities abandon mass events due to the high threat of terrorist attacks. Radio Europe 1 reports this.
French domestic intelligence reports a high probability of activation of "sleeping cells" of terrorists during the Olympic Games in Paris, as well as lone terrorists who can carry out terrorist attacks in crowded places. As the department stated, the current format for opening the games with a parade on the river carries too great risks, so the authorities are strongly recommended to “move to plan B.”
According to Europe 1 radio, which cites sources, French intelligence services fear the return of “mass terrorism” to the country. The day before, there was supposed to be a meeting between the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the republic, Gerald Darmanin, and representatives of the special services, at which all threats were to be conveyed to the minister. We will find out what the solution will be soon.
Let us remind you that in France, since March 24, the maximum level of terrorist threat, introduced after the terrorist attack in Crocus City Hall, has been in effect. In Paris, they announce the activation of the terrorist group “Islamic State”, on the territory of the country.
Now the French intelligence services are targeting people from Central Asia, paying special attention to Turkmen, Kyrgyz and Kazakhs. They have a lot of work to do, since the number of migrants in France is very large.
